PranaLumen Yoga is a new concept first created and developed by Lynne Ford.  Its name means ‘Breath of Light’ and comes from two words.  The first is the Sanskrit word ‘prana’ meaning ‘life-force’ or ‘vital energy.’  The second is from the Latin word ‘lumen’ meaning ‘light’ or ‘source of lumination’ and is also deeply rooted all the way back to the Proto-Indo-European language and the word “lewk” meaning ‘to shine.’

PranaLumen Yoga is a profound fusion of yin yoga, pratyahara yoga, deep meditation and vocal Light Language Activation.  It offers a primordial alchemy designed to enable you to find your own inner guiding spark to actively heal your body from the inside out.  It is a floor-based practice for any age or ability and is best experienced using an eye mask and ear pods in a clear, peaceful and darkened environment.

Incorporating Yin Yoga

Whilst most yoga asana styles in the west are ‘yang’ in nature focusing mainly on the muscle, making the body strong and flexible and concentrating on the outer dimensions of us, this practice is quite different. Taking less and longer poses, the slow and still practice of Yin focuses on opening and stimulating the deeper connective tissues allowing the release and free flow of energy and offering a space to turn inwards, tuning into both the depths of mind and the physical sensations of the body.

PranaLumen Yoga takes this inner focus further by removing the sense of vision and wholly engaging the sense of hearing and feeling through the vibration of sound.

Incorporating Pratyahara Yoga

Like the asanas or poses, Pratyahara is also one of the eight fundamental limbs of yoga. Its name comes from two Sanskrit words ‘prati’ (meaning against or away) and ‘ahara’ (meaning food) and, is basically understood as ‘withdrawal from the senses.’

Yoga realises ‘food’ not just as the physical elements (ether, air, fire, water and earth) that we consume via our mouths but also the subtler elements we perceive using the five primary senses (sound, touch, vision, taste and smell) and the even more subtle energies and sensations of our associations with our environment that we may consume with our heart and mind (rajas, tamas and sattva.)

There are four main forms of pratyahara, these are indriya-pratyahara (control of the senses) karma-pratyahara (control of action) prana-pratyahara (breath control) and mano-pratyahara (withdrawal of mind from senses).

Our busy, hectic environment is full of cognitive overload to stimulate our interests and overwhelm our senses.  Even just on our way to work, our eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin are blitzed with information for us to absorb, assimilate and respond to.  Traffic lights, road markings, random signs, advertising, traffic, car fumes, sirens and horns etc. As a society, our minds, bodies and nervous systems may seem to have become accustomed to this constant bombardment.  However, slowly and surely, and with the advance of technology, previous generational boundaries have become increasingly thinned meaning that we are even more accessible and sometimes vulnerable to infiltration, often without our knowledge.  Where previously we could ignore the phone on the wall or the knock at the door we now can be sold, told or emotionally accessed even in the privacy of our own bathrooms.

Our defences are constantly being tested.
No wonder our nervous systems are frazzled

Removes the primary sense of sight to realise where the body is right now in time and space.  It brings awareness to all our other senses, especially the frequency of sound, to encourage us to become more present in the moment. As the eyes close and the ears prick up, we can learn to follow fresh energy entering the body and old energies being released from the body and take back our border control.

Controlling our Senses

In today’s world, things seem as though they are needed bigger, better and faster and we are increasingly doing more.

In fact, we seem to do everything directly ourselves these days.  For example; we used to consult with a sales assistant to pick the perfect purchase, find a travel agent to create the perfect getaway and then speak with the bank clerk to discuss how to pay for it all.  Now we are encouraged to process it all! Even down to our last grocery product. We walk and text, sit and scroll and have become multi-tasking jugglers and plate spinners. Going out to dinner often involves programming an app and we may even associate relaxation with engaging in our favourite TV stories whilst catching up with the fast pace of life on a second device.

We are becoming human androids.
No wonder our bodies are exhausted.

Brings us to a new place of complete stillness, of non-action, reminding us of the long-lost art of daydreaming and doing nothing but concentrating on our own presence.  It allows us the stillness to search inside our own computer, find our own bright and beautiful creative spark and teaches us to programme our own bodies back to balance.

Controlling our Action

As our bodies and minds become more stressed, our breathing patterns change to accommodate.  We may begin to experience more of a shallow chest breath, pulling air in using the neck, shoulders and upper chest rather than allowing the air to flow naturally into the diaphragm.  Moving us into the well-known ‘fight-or-flight’ mode and taxing our head, neck and shoulders. Over time, this becomes habit and before we know it, we are not using the more oxygenated exchange system in the bottom of the lungs at all. This leads to fatigue, low energy and poor circulation and even allows for stagnant air to sit deep in the lungs making it easier for bacteria to grow.

We are overriding our natural healing systems.
No wonder we feel depleted and involuntarily anxious.
Controlling our Breath

Guides us back to the humble breath and the depth and breadth of the diaphragm signalling the Vegas nerve and regulating the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering heart rate, reducing stress hormones, releasing the muscles and reminding us of our powerful factory settings.

Our busy brains are constantly targeted through social media, TV, radio, news, advertising, emails, texts and voice notes, all wanting our personal attention and immediate response.  We are overwhelmed by information, misinformation, advise and opinion and offered facts, pseudo-facts, rumours, gossip and all sorts of other jibber-jabber that creates dopamine-addicting feedback loops and leaves us exhausted and often none the wiser.  Processing too much data leads to fatigue, distraction and gives us trouble focusing which eventually causes us to lost touch with our own inner thoughts and true feelings.

We are becoming human computers
No wonder our minds are feeling constantly overwhelmed.
Withdrawing Mind from Senses

Withdraws our senses and brings us to complete stillness. It heightens our natural intuition and focuses on the breath allowing space and clarity. As our minds become increasingly clear we create opportunity for new thinking, invite curiosity, open new doors of understanding and comprehension and expand & blossom our personal growth.

Incorporating Meditation

These days everyone knows a little of meditation and its benefits.  There are so many ways and means to meditate, from simple mindfulness techniques to the more complicated yogic concepts.  However, for some people it may feel like an unachievable goal and this is not surprising.  Often, we believe that we have to turn off the brain and sit in silence until it ‘happens.’ We think that meditation is a destination, that there’s an end game and more often or not, if we don’t get to this destination or achieve the desired outcome quickly, we give it all up thinking we are just ‘bad meditators.’

Screenshot 2026-09-19 at 18.10_edited.png

Just as we can’t turn off our heart and lungs, we can’t turn off the mind. True meditation isn’t about sitting still and finding instant peace.  Success is simply noticing that your mind is wandering and gently returning to the present moment, again and again and again.  The key is to learn to sit with what’s happening right now.  To observe without judgement or attachment and allow any energies, emotions or feelings to move fluidly through us.  Just like a river running down its path, there may be a splash, splatter or even big waves as we swerve stones and rocks but over time, and with practice, these obstacles will smooth and the water will simply have no choice but to flow.

enables meditation to be achievable for everyone

PranaLumen Yoga uses its dark, still practice space to bring awareness to our internal rivers and simply observe what’s happening by coming back to the breath.   This neutral space quietens the analytical left brain and allows access to the intuitive right brain.  It grounds the physical body and allows the consciousness to expand its scope and potential for connection to higher versions of ourselves and other unseen natural energies.

Incorporating Light Language

Light Language is not often spoke of and, is not actually a language in the conversational sense at all.  There are no grammar, translation or dictionary interpretations and it doesn’t fit into any of the regular forms of language known on this planet. It has however, been used by many cultures throughout history.

Light language uses the power and energy of light and sound and can take many forms, such as speech, chanting, singing, dancing, writing, hand movements and art.  Just like all energy, this frequency has its own intelligence and life force.  It uses sacred geometrics, symbols, colours and tones to carry high vibrational sound frequencies that bypass the conscious mind and communicate directly with the soul.

Screenshot 2026-09-20 at 11.05_edited.png

Within each high vibrational sound frequency is a field of information which, rather than being heard by the ears, is felt by the body’s energetics.  It does not use our regular physical or logical processing.  Initially, our mind will feel the need to understand and make logic of the sounds but learning to surrender, feel the vibration of the sound resonating physically and let the heart open to receive is key to the practice.

Each transmission is unique often with a clear intent or desire and depending on who is experiencing them, will bring its own flavours and rhythms. Sometimes it grounds and releases, other times it awakens and activates.  Sometimes is clears and purifies and sometimes its intention is to primarily assist with the ascension process and DNA activation.

These high frequencies sound codes are received in a kind of compressed or zip file and are then downloaded and written into our energetic system which may then become digested immediately or slowly over time. Each transmission is genuinely one of a kind and will be processed equally as uniquely depending on the person receiving them and how and when they are subconsciously ready to receive and integrate it.

The essence and vibe of every transmission offer healing, expansion and expression beyond our usual reach and its energy often continues to work long after the episode has finished.

The body is a like a sponge involuntarily absorbing these frequencies and once our body’s intelligence begins to surrender, absorb and assimilate these high vibrational sound codes, with practice, we eventually begin to pre-empt them. Like we’ve innately heard them all before, often opening up our own Light Language abilities and our own direct access to the unknown.

PranaLumen Yoga integrates the frequencies of vocal Light Language into the deep untapped intelligence of our body like nothing else.  It brings a remembrance; of something we once knew. A remembrance that we were once part of something.  Something that we have been programmed to forget in this lifetime.

How it works...

PranaLumen Yoga primarily concentrates our awareness on the spaces and voids in the body rather than actual body matter.  It seeks out and explores the cavities and caves of ether (space) that sit between the flesh and bones. It imagines the space between the fingers and the toes, between each of the organs and tissue, it searches the skull and bones all the way down to a cellular level.  It understands that these, often overlooked parts of us, are actually where energy gets stuck or hides and lingers.  The organs themselves of course, may hold much stagnant, foretelling energy too but space is where it all starts.

It is hard to describe space.  It is omnipresent.  It is formless.  It is everywhere.  Inside the body and outside.  Ayurveda and Vedic philosophy understand space or ether (Akash in Sanskrit) as ‘potential.’  It is the subtlest of all universal elements and is characterised by the quality of sound.  The ear is therefore considered the sense organ most associated with space and the mouth (vocal cords,) the most associated organ of action. Meaning that on a sensory level, the sound code and frequency of vocal Light Language have direct access into this space and into the core potential of our being.

It gives purpose and strength and power to all things

On a physical level, space between bones and tissues allow our bodies movement and interaction with the outside world.  It allows for constant and efficient flow of energy or bodily materials in such areas as the hollow of the intestines, blood vessels and respiratory airways.  The fluid filled space of the fascia and connective tissues even acts as our shock absorber.

At a microscopic level, all cells sit in the extracellular space and the ether between them carries subtler bodily materials such as hormones, immune cells and chemical signals from one cell to another.

At a quantum level, our physical bodies are understood as almost entirely made up of space.  In fact, it is said in quantum physics that if we removed all the empty atomic space from every human body on earth, the entire human race’s physical matter would fit into just one single sugar cube.

Screenshot 2026-09-20 at 11.49_edited.png

Consider the space between the notes of a piece of music.  The notes are, of course, very important but without the space or ‘rest’ it’s all just one big noise.  The very best painters in history have carefully used space between their brushstrokes to create mood, change colour and suggest shape and form.  A great comedian too, uses just the right amount of dramatic space or pause before delivering the perfect punch line.  Space holds gravitas.

The attention to space in our practice teaches us to witness, watch and navigate the flow, pace and density of our energy.

Energy in motion is e-motion and, as its name suggests, emotion is best when it flows.  Stuck emotion causes a wealth of problems such as anxiety, nervousness, resentment and anger.  As we see explained, by both old and new sciences, this can eventually also become form and structure.  So, when ignored, has the potential to become an even bigger problem and may take up residence in all sorts of shapes and forms.  It can develop into lumps, bumps, mental rigidity, brain fog, thickening of arteries, slow responses, depression or even a mental brick wall between friends and relationships.  It then needs due diligence, care and attention to be broken down again.

Screenshot 2026-09-12 at 10.16_edited.png
breaks down blocked energy naturally using our own body's intelligent sensory systems.

Traditionally, we have been taught that we have five senses.  However, neuroscience now formally recognises that we actually have at least eight.  These are hearing, touch, sight, touch, smell, vestibular systems (spatial awareness), proprioception (body awareness) and interoception (internal signals.)

Visual processing consumes a massive amount of energy and so turning this switch off allows this energy to be redirected.

By being blindfolded and then bringing the body down to complete stillness our practice shifts how the brain processes sensory information and directs focus further inwards.  Darkness triggers the parasympathetic nervous system and drops brainwaves into alpha and theta states which are optimal for energetic healing and manifestation.  This sensory deprivation and neuroplasticity, encourages the brain to turn up the volume of all remaining senses which affects them in a variety of magnificent ways including allowing our intuition, sixth sense or ESP (extrasensory perceptions) to come online and develop.

We are each born with superpowers!
Our practice encourages us to search for our own unique magic properties.

Every human being is gifted with an innate, intuitive potential that is individual to us.  These psychic abilities have long been debated and are still not widely accepted in our society.  Historically, they have been spoken and written of often but sadly, in today’s world, we have been primed and preconditioned from a very young age to ignore such gifts.  Childhood imaginary friends were discouraged and dispelled.  Formal education and modern science have sought to disprove and mock such ideas and fear and distrust has been associated with their practices.  As such, it is widely accepted that these abilities do not usually exist within us and we therefore struggle to tap into them easily.

Nether-the-less, we will have all no doubt experienced a déjà vu moment or thought of someone and then they coincidentally make contact or walked into a room and ‘felt’ the tension can be cut with a knife and so, somewhere in us (even if we are too scared to admit it) we may be curious that such magic powers are real and quite possible.

Like any other talent, psychic ability exists on a spectrum.  Some people arrive on the planet with a natural immediate talent for one superpower, others are gifted the ability for many and others develop their talents through pure meditation, study, spiritual work and continued practice.
